Whilst glass bead blasting is the preferred technique for alloy items, steel is best brought back to the base material prior to recoating, with the use of a high abrasive media such as carborundum. Care must be taken to protect important areas such as bearing and pivot surfaces, and any identification markings such as frame numbers.
